And the Journey Continues
Welcome 2024! Time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and continue on our journey to where ever in our lives we’re heading. We are not really beginning again are we? Well, I’m not. Yes, I had a pleasant rest for a bit, but I also worked at the library between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and I did some wonderful storytelling with my snake assistant. So this is more of - onward we go!
I didn’t make any new year resolutions this year. There is so much going on at the moment that I think it is wise just to say I am going to try to do better at whatever my focus is for the day. Yes, yes, I need to get fitter; I need to stop procrastinating; I need to … and so on. But does making a resolution really help me to get on with things? If you know me then you realise it doesn’t help at all!
I’m thinking about this journey of life like the first trek I did with my husband decades ago. It was so exciting - the planning, the training, the researching. It’s was so scary, carrying that huge pack up steep mountain paths, through some dense forests and across swampy plains. But it was also exhilarating! We challenged ourselves and achieved things we hadn’t thought we ever would; felt so alive at the same time as feeling half dead with exhaustion. And all the while knowing that we would return to the ‘every day life’ but with a new spark.
Now we’re on the other side of the world, both with big changes in occupation/careers and still on that amazing journey, still with that spark. Yes, there have been long stop overs as our compass needed fixing, our travel companions changed, our energy needed recharging. But we are still travelling together, each with our own little side tracks and parallel paths at times.
The ‘Never Ending Story’ is such a perfect title for this journey. Who knows where it will take us. But we know it will be filled with love, stories spoken, written and filmed, words, pictures and sounds. There will be people and places that will come and go and hopefully we will touch them as they touch us. The journey won’t ever really finish. We’ll just continue on to a new destination. I don’t believe in happily ever afters, so how about an alternative?
And so the journey continues! or
And what an amazing journey!
May your 2024 journey be filled with adventure, stories and love.
